Datuk Kamarulzaman Zainal brings close to four decades of aerospace and defence industry leadership to G7 Technology. He was commissioned into the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) in 1985, serving across RMAF Kluang, RMAF Butterworth and RMAF Headquarters in technical logistics, R&D and airworthiness management — including an exchange programme with the Royal Australian Air Force — before leading the shift toward directorate-level technical airworthiness governance that was later formalised as the Directorate General Technical Airworthiness (DGTA).
He went on to author three national high-technology industry development plans — the Malaysian Shipbuilding & Ship Repair Strategic Plan 2020, the Malaysian Aerospace Industry Blueprint 2030, and the Malaysian Rail Supporting Industry Roadmap 2030 — and led the offset management and performance-based contract (PBC) framework that became a core competency of the Technology Depository Agency (TDA) under the Ministry of Finance, negotiating and concluding ten PBCs across four government agencies.
His executive roles include CEO of KTM Bhd, where he led the transformation of Malaysia's main line railway, followed by service on the KTM Board of Directors as Senior Associate for business and corporate development.
